TYPES OF ANTI-GRAFFITI COATINGS

At Mavro, you will find a product line of professional anti-graffiti coatings under the name Graffitiguard. These coatings provide a protective layer that ensures that any graffiti applied can be easily removed.

Basically, there are two types of anti-graffiti coatings, permanent coating and semi-permanent coating. The choice of which coating is appropriate is based on the type of surface, the sensitivity of the target and any best practice requirements.

SEMI-PERMANENT / SACRIFICING ANTI-GRAFFITI COATINGS

The semi-permanent anti-graffiti coatings developed and manufactured by Mavro are coating systems based on wax emulsions. The effectiveness of these special products has been proven on numerous infrastructural artworks, public buildings and private properties throughout Europe.

These coatings create an invisible protective layer over the surface that prevents all types of ink and paint from penetrating the substrate. Semi-permanent anti-graffiti coatings are also called sacrificial anti-graffiti coatings. This is because when you clean the surface with hot water and appropriate pressure, the coating layer melts and it is removed along with the paint or ink.

As the name suggests, this is a permanent solution to any graffiti problem; in fact, the coating remains intact when the surface is made graffiti-free. When a surface is protected with a permanent anti-graffiti coating, it can be easily cleaned without the use of strong chemicals. For example, with a biodegradable cleaner or with just water and a cloth.

Permanent anti-graffiti coating in color

Many times our permanent anti-graffiti coatings are applied as a transparent layer. But when the client wishes to protect the surface against graffiti and give it a color, it is good to know that our permanent anti-graffiti coatings are also available in any RAL color. These coatings are also popularly called anti-graffiti paint. They are often used in treating bicycle tunnels and other underpasses. • Nitocoat®: a permanent, color-restoring coating. The transparent coating was specially developed for non-porous surfaces such as plastic and metal and restores the original color of the material. The coating protects the surface for about 5 to 10 years, not only against graffiti, but also against moisture and dirt. Nitocoat® is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
• Mavrox® PU Topcoat: this 1-component, solvent-free coating based on moisture-curing polyurethane forms a wear-resistant, heavy protective layer. Particularly suitable as transparent protection for works of art, murals and heavy-duty environments.

WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS
